  • More Oracle stuff – possibly

I’m a terrible blogger. I don’t mean that the content I put out there is bad, it’s just that I rapidly lose enthusiasm for writing up something I’ve done that I find fascinating and so often just don’t write at all. It’s another reason I’ve never pursued Oracle ACE status – my lack of enthusiasm Continue reading

    Hearing aids.. Widex and Jabra

So I’ve always suspected I have some degree of hearing loss. Recently in the UK and attended a dinner for ten with five each side of a table, something was very apparent. Not a noisy restaurant setting by any measure but understanding anyone not seated directly adjacent even if they were speaking directly towards me Continue reading

  • Three days

    Three days

Well, three days will go quickly. Today I got a lot done relating to the logistics for the trip – packed the necessary USB-C, Lightning, Micro-USB, Magsafe connection cables for all the gadgets along with the Aussie wall socket adapters – it’s annoying that there’s so many different cables needed. Thankfully Apple is moving towards Continue reading

  • Less than a week to go

Less than a week to go

Six days and 150 minutes, it’ll be time to step on a Qantas 787 for my 16+ hour flight to Sydney, Australia. Needless to say I am looking forward to it. A continent I have always wanted to visit and a people with whom I feel a kindred connection (well, I am talking the European Continue reading

    Quiet Sunday

Nice puppy walk this morning (3 miles); really enjoying the Merlin bird identifier app that uses sound/images to educate me on what’s around. Also the Seek app that does the same for plants (except the sound, of course). Viridian has very well maintained trails, park facilities and pathways. Found quite a large bird feather – Continue reading

  • Busy weekend so far

    Busy weekend so far

So Claudia planted the yellow yucca which we look forward to enjoying the benefits of in the next 1-2 years. I added some mulch to the beds so it looks a bit better. Since Deloitte provides us with a $1k wellbeing benefit every year, I used the remainder of it not yet spent to buy Continue reading

  • Home project time

    Home project time

The hairless one wants to mount the TV to the wall. Only hitch is that it has a ceramic tile covering the fireplace surround where the thing is going to be installed, so that complicates things. Having procured some tile drill bits, he’s off to the races. Sitting over coffee, he had the bright idea Continue reading

    Adventures with the hairless one

It’s been an interesting week here. Lots of dog walks and trips in the car with our noses out of the window. The hairless one has a project to put all the home theatre gear into a rack (which he’s done) and then hoist the TV onto the wall (which he has not). Those yellow Continue reading

  • Home at last

    Home at last

Well, the final process of buying our new home went very well. Our closing on Thursday 27th April took all of eight minutes and that morning we brought over some stuff to the new house. Friday was moving day and Olde World Movers of Euless did a fantastic job of transferring everything between houses. As Continue reading
